George Starr Smith: Herrmore, IA

SMITH, CURTIS

Is there a town or other place name in Iowa called "Herrmore"? My information is that a brother of my great-great-grandfather, George Starr Smith, died 4 December 1908 in Herrmore, Iowa, at the age of 92. I cannot find a Herrmore, IA, in my atlas. He was the son of Daniel B. Smith and Clarissa Curtis, and he was born 11 Feb. 1815, in Warren, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. The Smiths emigrated from CT to Ruggles, Huron Co. (now Ashland Co., OH), in the early 1820s. George and his older brother, Ezra Daniel Smith (my ancestor), went to Fulton Co., IL, by the mid to late 1830s. Ezra went on to McDonough Co., IL, by 1860. Perhaps George was there, also, but I'm not sure. George was married, but I'm not sure of his wife's name. It might have been Nancy Jackson because there is a marriage record in Fulton Co., IL, for George S. Smith and Nancy Jackson on July 9, 1839.
