Searching for my grandfather Severin Furenes

Severin Furenes who was my grandfather stayed in Iowa between 1888 - 1894. He was born in Norway 5 oktober 1866. Maybe he worked at the railway. We are planning a trip to USA in september this year, and would like to see the place were he stayed and worked, if it is possible to find it out. If You can help us we will be grateful.
