I found Samuel and family (wife, Mariah; ch. Rosie, Ettie, William, Maggie, Nellie, Clarence in 1880 census for Harrison Township in Mahaska Co. in Iowa. Samuel is listed as a farmer - born in Indiana, Father in MD and Mother in MD. I also found a Margaret (56 yrs) with a John (60 yrs) and daughter Carrie (15) in 1880 census -living in Washington City, Iowa. Margaret was shown to be from Maryland and both parents from Scotland. John was born in PA and both parents Scotland. Not sure if these connect.
