Stewart County Iowa

GIROUX, JUREOUX, JEROUX, EGGELING, HOWARD

My ggrandfather stated that he lived in "Stewart County Iowa" in the 1870's through 1890's, and I have seen at least one other reference to this county. Does anyone know what the story is with Stewart County? I suspect that it may have been a forerunner of Story County, but would appreciate more insights.
