In Response To: Search for Derrow/Dever (Sharon Domer)

1885 Iowa State Census, Wapello, Louisa, Iowa
Derrow, Sinthey, 54, keeps house, Vir
Hanie, female, 24, Vir
Mary, 22, Vir
Josie, 20, Vir

Wapello is close to Mediapolis. Wapello is in Louisa County, Mediapolis about 10 miles south in DesMoines County, both in SE Iowa.

Ancestry.com has a family tree for this couple.
It has Harrison Durrow, b. abt 1829 in Rockingham, VA, d. Mar 10, 1880, Cynthia Ann Shafer, b.Oct 25, 1830, Rockingham, VA, d. Feb 16, 1892, Northfield, Iowa. Northfield is about 5 miles NE of Mediapolis in DesMoines County. Since Iowa started vital records in 1880 you should be able to find death and probate records at either the DesMoines or Louisa County courthouses.

1880 census mortality schedule has
Harrison Derrow, b. abt 1828, dcd, Oct 1879, Lineville, Rockingham, Virginia of Typhoid Fever

1870 census Harrisonberg, Plains township, Rockingham, Virginia
Derra, Harrison, 45, day laborer, VA
Cynthia, 39, VA
Virginia, 16, VA
Fanny, 12, VA
Ella, 10, VA
Mary, 9, VA
Josephine, 4, VA

1880 census Plains, Rockingham, Virginia (enumerated June 9, 1880)
Derror, Harrison, head, 50, keeping house, VA VA VA
Cynthia, wife, 49, VA VA VA
Fannie, 22, dau, VA VA VA
Ella, 20, dau, VA VA VA
Mary, 18, dau, VA VA VA
Josephine, 16, dau, VA VA VA

Hmmm. Died March 10, 1880, by online sources, died Oct 1879 by 1880 Census mortality schedule, listed as "keeping house" on June 1880. I suspect he was already dead by June, and "keeping house" should have gone with Cynthia's listing.
