Like to find the connection

Come from an area in europe where our family name Schlatzer goes back far, now I found many Schlatzers in the US, the first mentioned is in 1728 in virginia, I would like to find the connection back to europe and all the tree in the US. I can't find in the records anywhere John Schlatzer, a US citizen. He arrived from a europe trip back in the US 1915, in that time he was 73 years old and gave to the immigration his residence as Manelldown or Martelldown in Iowa. Do someone now about Schlatzer's in Iowa?
