In Response To: Iowa State Census (Lola Weber)

Lola, Ancestry has a very few of Iowa's 99 counties on-line for 1885 and a few more for 1895. But these are indexes only and not a representation of the household. Also a problem with the spellings of some towns & townships so you sometimes have to use many of the options available to find your people. Some county sites on Rootsweb may have a twp. or two on-line also. You can order any of your mentioned state census records from LDS by county. Would be better if you have them on the federal census first to make sure they are still living where you anticipate them to be. These state census' are not indexed except for 1925 which indexes only some of the larger cities in the state. The 1925 is especially helpful because it also includes parents names of each individual as well as maiden name of the mother,& place of marr. of the parents. Also military service and religion Dick
