Services for Eleanor Myrtle Madden, 80, 506 New York Avenue, were 1:30 p.m. March 24 at the Larkin and Johnson Funeral Home.

The Rev. Duane Lauer, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bedford, officiated the service. Music was provided by Thelma Woods, organist and Don Wilson, vocalist. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jamie and Curtis Madden, Steve Trinkle, Dave and Brian Davenport and Mitchel Sorensen.

Mrs. Madden was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Gillette, Wyo., to Arch and Anne (Kilgore) Davenport, and died March 22, 1992, at her home. She lived in Gillette area until she was six years old and the family moved to Shannon city area. She attended high school and completed the normal training requirements to teach in the rural school system. She received her teaching degree from Creston Junior College. She taught in rural schools in Adams and Union counties.

She married Raymond C. Madden Sept. 28, 1933 in Des Moines. They moved to Shannon City a year after their marriage.

She as preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Mary Davenport; two brothers, Frank and Paul Davenport; and a grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, three sons, [Jerry (wife Carol) of Portland Oregon, Duabe (wife Marion) of Thief River Falls, Minn., and Wayne (wife Angela) of Creston; a daughter Linda (husband Fay) Clark, a brother, Loren Davenport (wife Ann) of Marshfield Hills, Mass.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary and Rowena Davenport, not mentioned in the death notice.
