Marjorie Foy, 92, of Shannon City, died Thursday May 28, 2015 at the Afton Care Center in Afton.

Graveside memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday June 1, 2015 at the Oakland Cemetery, south of Shannon City. Pastor Lila Green will officiate.
Marjorie Carol Foy was born December 17, 1922, in Tracy, Ia. to Anna Patricia (Wyatt) and Ralph Leroy McGruder. Marjorie graduated from Burlington High School in 1940.

On July 27, 1941 Marjorie was united in marriage to Jesse Vaughn Foy in Memphis, Mo. They settled in Burlington where she did factory work during World War II. She later moved to a farm south west of Shannon City where she worked as an active farm wife and on the line at Swifts Packing Plant. She worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney's in Creston. In 1957 Marjorie became co-owner of the general store in Shannon City that they purchased from E.L. Edwards, which they operated until 1969. Marjorie also took care of Jesse in his later years from 1984 until his passing in 1985.

Marjorie is survived by a daughter Linda Lee (husband David) James in Creston and a son Michael Foy (Diane Smith) of Arispe; six grandchildren, Jeri Smith, Joni Stonehocker, Jan Dallmeyer, Eric Foy, Pam Heagle and Brian Foy and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse in 1985 and a sister Betty McGruder.
