Mary Jane Tyler, 89, of Des Moines, formerly of Creston, died December 12, 2014 after many years of illness. Her family thanks the nurses and staff at Trinity Center Luther Park and UnityPoint Hospice for their special care. The family has chosen not to hold a traditional funeral. The date and location of Graveside Services and Family Rememberance to be held in a few months will be announced in this paper.
Mary Jane, daughter of Warren Dale Nissen and Fanny Joye McCreedy Nissen, was born June 8, 1925 . Mary Jane grew up on farms in Union and Adams Counties and graduated from Prescott High School. She taught school for a short time and married Orlo Kline Tyler in 1945. They raised five children in the Dodge Center Community. Mary Jane was a full time homemaker and active in her church and community. She was named Homemaker of the Year in the 1950s. And in later years she worked for Matura Action Corporation and for Greater Regional Medical Center.

Survivors are
Susan Lura of Norman, OK, grandchildren Sargent (Shelly) Hatch, Brig (Kristina Hull) Hatch, Ace (Halima Chutkan) Hatch, Eli Hatch, great-grandchildren Alexandra and Orion Hull.

Mary Beth Tyler of Montclair, NJ, grandchildren Victoria Summers, April (Jeff) Bednarski, Spencer (Ikuko) Smith, great-grandchildren Ava and Sean Summers, Isaac and Natalie Bednarski.

Timothy (Denise) Tyler of Dallas Center, grandchild Joel (Kelly) Tyler.

Ned (Leslie) Tyler of Creston, grandchild Amanda (Dusty) Hicks and great-grandchildren Cooper and Trevor Hicks.

Jill (Steve Miller) Tyler of Vermillion, SD and grandchildren Leah, Samuel, Caleb, Seth and Joseph Miller.

And her sisters in law Lola Nissen of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Iris Tyler Young of Boseman, MT.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Orlo in 2001, her grandson Marc Tyler in 2002, her brother Shelby, and her sister JoAnn Hood.
In rememberance of Mary Jane's love of cooking and the joy she shared by feeding her family and friends, please direct memorials to your local Food Pantry.
