Mildred Harris, Afton
Afton-Mildred Marie McCann Harris, 60, of Afton died Wednesday at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Afton United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Tunnicliff will officate with burial in the GreenLawn Cemetery here. A family night will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Stroud-Lindsay Funeral Home here.
Harris was born April 4, 1925, in Union County, Iowa, to Richard and Opal(Young) McCann. She married William Amos Harris. He preceded her in death in October 1982. She was a retired school teacher having taught in the East Union area for 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce JoAnn Harris of Montesano, Wash.; three grandchildren; six sisters and a brother.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a sister, and three brothers.
A memorial has been established to either the Green Valley Hospice or the Afton United Methodist Church.
