Byron ( Barney ) Kinkennon, 82,of Ridgecrest, Passed away peacefully on April 27,2015. Barney was born to Thomas and Emma ( Johnson ) Kinkennon on Febuary 27,1933 the youngest of 12 siblings in Creston, Iowa.

Barney came to Ridgecrest in 1948 and attended Burroughs High School and graduated in 1952. After graduating high school, Barney joined in the U.S. Air Force and served four years during the Korean conflict. After military service, Barney met and married Donna Mihm in 1956. He entered the civil service apprenticeship program which resulted in 37 years of federal civil service.

In 1959, his first son, Scott was born, followed by a second son Tim in 1961 and then a daughter Kristell in 1965.

Barney's hobbies included flying model RC aircraft and spending time with his family and friends. Barney was a past VFW Ship's Captain Post 4084 and also a member of various other organizations.

He was preced in death by jis parents, siblings and loving daughter Kristell in 2011.

He is survived in death by his of 59 years Donna, sons Scott and Tim, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for Friday May 8, 10 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church with burial at Ridgecrest Memorial Park in the Rose Garden with reception to follow at Crossroads Community Church.
