Dies Here at 72Walter Jacob Driskell, 72, a life time resident of the Diagonal and Creston communities, died at the Greater Community hospital here at 2:15 a.m. Thursday. He had been ill since 1943.
Funeral services will be held at the First Christian church here at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev.Ernest S. Worden will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. His body was taken to the home at 426 Wyoming avenue from McGregor Brothers and Coens funeral home this afternoon. It will lie in state at the church before funeral services.
Walter Jacob Driskell was born at Diagonal, Aug. 27, 1880. He was the son of Elijah and Margaret Springate Driskell. He was married at Diagonal, July 17, 1908, to Ida Mae Brown, who survives him.
He was a farmer until his retirement a few years ago. He lived in the Diagonal community until 1928 when he moved to Creston. He was a member of the Christian church.
Surviving in addition to his widow are five daughters, Eva Sobotka of Diagonal, Margaret Riker of Benton, Ethel Winn of Adair, Mildred Miers of Des Moines and Irene Toland of Creston; two sons, Everett Driskell of Creston and Donald Driskell of Greenfield; a sister, Mrs. Fred Bird; 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
