Mulford, Carrie Kessler -
Carrie Mulford, age 97, of Osceola (formerly of Creston) passed away Tuesday, June
27, 2006 at the Osceola Nursing and Rehab Center.
Carrie was born March 12, 1909 in rural Union County, Iowa to Grace (Burke) and John Kessler.
She was a graduate of the Creston High School with the Class of 1927.
She married Joseph Raymond Mulford in Creston in 1928. John passed away in
1988. Carrie was a homemaker and a farm wife, Carrie and Joseph farmed near
Prescott until moving to Creston in 1974.
She was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox for 26 years; a member
of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church since 1974; a member of the Catholic Daughters of
America, St. Ann's Society and the Altar Society; she also served on the Diocesan
C.C.W. Board for several years.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1988; a son; John Mulford
in 1986; three brothers: Edward Kessler, Ernest Kessler, Harry Kessler, and one sister,
Alice Myers.
The survivors are sons: Jim (Shirley) Mulford, Johnston, IA.; Stephen (Pattee) Mulford,
Norwalk, IA; seven grandchildren: Linda Rogers, Karen Mulford, Shelly Hansen, Mark Mulford,
Beth Younadam, Jackie Cox, and Johnnie Mulford; nineteen great-grandchildren; four
great-great- grandchildren.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services were Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, in Creston
with Father Leonard Kenkel, officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Creston,
IA.
