Funeral services for Jade Guthrie Perez, age 19, of Creston, Iowa were held May 9 at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston with Rick Titus conducting services.

Jade was born May 8, 1980, in Fort Carson, Colo., to Larry Guthrie and Raeleen Smith. He lived most of his life in the Creston and Lenox area. After battling cancer, he passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospital.

Survivors include father, Larry Guthrie of Fairbanks, Alaska; mother Raeleen Smith of Creston; Stepfather Juan (wife Patty) Perez of Lenox; maternal grandfather Max (wife Julie) Smith of Creston; maternal grandmother Donna (husband Ron) Edwards of Creston; paternal grandparents Al (Wife Dee) Guthrie of Grants, N. Mex.; great grandmother Evelyn Conley of Creston; great grandparents Darrell (wife Pearl) Moore
of Creston; and sister Angle Perez of Creston.
Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
