“Grandma” Goddard

Passed away

One of Aftons oldest citizens, Mrs. Mary Rhodes Goddard, known to many as “Grandma”, suffered a stroke Saturday night at the home of her son, Roy Rhodes of Kellogg, where she had been visiting since last Thursday. She passed away Sunday at the age of 88.

She had lived in Afton for the last four years and besides many friends she leaves to mourn her passing a son by a first marriage, Roy Rhodes of Kellogg, two other sons, Ernest Goddard of Davenport and Everett Goddard of Detroit, Michigan, and a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Marks of Galesburg, Ill.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Morgan’s Funeral home in Kellogg with the burial at Lynnvill where she was a member of the pioneer Horn family.
