Nelson, Dustin Lyle -
Seven year old Dustin Lyle Nelson of Creston died Tuesday afternoon September 28 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from injuries received in a car and bicycle accident in Creston Monday.
His funeral was Saturday at the Larkin and Gauthier Chapel in Creston, the Reverent Robert Pickerell officiating. Burial was in
Graceland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Blank Memorial Children's Hospital or Life Flight.
The son of Gary Eugene and Karolyn (Miller) Nelson, he was born February 18, 1975 in Corning. He was a first grader at Lincoln
School.
Survivors are his parents; a brother, Mike, of the home; grandparents. Edwin and Marlene Miller of Sharpsburg, Lyle and Irene Nelson of Lenox, and Esther Miller of Bedford; great grandparents are Elsie Miller and Ethel Nelson, both of
Lenox; seven uncles, seven aunts and 10 cousins.

Nelson, Dustin Lyle -
Dustin Lyle Nelson, the son of Gary Eugene and Karolyn Esther Miller Nelson, was born at Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa on February 18, 1975. He died at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, September 29 at the age of seven years, seven months and eleven days.
"Dusty" was a first grader at Lincoln School in Creston. He had "Chroins" disease and sometimes suffered from its effects. He knew confinement and enjoyed it when he could be outdoors playing.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Karolyn; a brother, Mike of the home in Creston; his grandparents, Lyle and Irene Nelson of Lenox, Edwin and Marlene Miller of Sharpsburg and Esther Miller of Bedford; two great grandmothers, Elsie
Miller and Ethel Nelson, both of Lenox; aunts and uncles, Darrel and Karen Miller of Pacific Junction, Joyce and Bruce
Majors, Janice Ambrose, all of Bedford, Richard Miller of Des Moines, Karen Miller of Maryville, Missouri, Lori and Chad Beemer of Bedford, Brian Seil of Council Bluffs, Dennis and Charme Nelson of Lenox, and Marcia and Richard Kozeliski
of Des Moines; ten cousins; other relatives; and many friends of all ages.
Services were held Saturday, October 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Creston, Iowa. Reverend Robert Pickerel!, pastor of the Creston First Christian Church officiated.
Music was by Norma Paymal, organist, and Marilyn Beck and Billie Jean Barker, vocalists. The selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "The Twenty-third Psalm".
Casket bearers were Darrel Miller, Richard Miller, Richard Kozeliski, Dennis Nelson, Don Starlin, and Mike Baker.
Honorary bearers were the Lincoln First Grade. Bob Strange, Chet Larson, Troy Cordell, Cody Starlin, Jerry Smith, Mae Cornelison, Steve Williamson, Rodney West, Mark Shepherd and Wade Starlin.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Creston.
