Parker, Paul Lawrence -
Services were held Monday, Feb. 25 for Paul L. Parker, 74, at Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox, the Rev. W.C. Trembly officiating. Music was by Norma Paymal, organist, Fran Trembly and Billie Jean Barker, vocalists.
Casket bearers were Louis Votava, Jim Votava, Bill Clayton, Myron Smith, Dick Longfellow and Gaylan Bell. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Creston.
Paul Lawrence Parker, the son of James and Delia Oliver Parker, was born September 10, 1905 near Redding, Iowa; and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, February 22, 1980 at the age of 74 years, 4 months, and 12 days.
With the exception of fourteen years during which he resided in southern Missouri, Paul spent all of his life in Ringgold and Taylor counties.
On September 1, 1928 he was united in marriage with Mary Catherine Olney at Mt. Ayr. Eight children were born to bless this union. Paul and Mary spent most of their lives farming near Clearfield until he retired and moved to Lenox in 1973.
Paul was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Lee Smith in 1977; a grandson, Mark James; his parents; two brothers, Sam and Elvin and by one sister, Martha.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Mary of Lenox; four sons; Harold of Diagonal; Paul Jr. of Council Bluffs; Jim of Mingo; and Jerry of Clearfield; three daughters; Mary Alice (Mrs. Delmar) Hardisty of Corning; Hazel (Mrs. Elvis) Riedesel of Altoona, and Ardella (Mrs. Charles) Jones of Ankeny; also 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers; Frank Parker of Shannon City; and Oliver Parker of Diagonal; and five sisters; Frances (Mrs. William) Bullock of Creston; Mary (Mrs. Glen) Fox of Ft. Collins, Colo.; Ruth (Mrs. Manson) Amick of Cabool, Mo.; Florence (Mrs. Homer) Vandinvort of Houston, Mo.; and Thelma (Mrs. James) Moore of Riverside, Cal.; as well as by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
