Badgett, Ruby Crystal Brown -
Ruby Crystal Brown Badgett, daughter of Martin and Martha Stonesifer Brown, was born May 22, 1913 at Brentwood, Arkansas. She died at the Creston Manor Nursing Home on July 4 at the age of sixty-seven years, one month and twelve days. Ruby had been a resident of the nursing home for several weeks. She moved to Iowa with her family when she was four years old and spent the rest of her life in the Lenox and Kent communities.
Ruby and Max R. Badgett were united in marriage at Omaha, Nebraska on December 24, 1931. They farmed in this community for many years and since retiring enjoyed camping and meeting new friends. Ruby joined the Prairie Star Church at Kent on February 23, 1964 and later transferred her membership to the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox.
She will be remembered as a good mother and wife, a grandmother who enjoyed her grandchildren immensity and a gardener whose love of garden and yard was obvious to all who passed her home.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Max, of Lenox; her daughter, Phyllis Sevier and husband Jack of Kent; two grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Jones of Kent; two sisters Beulah Clinton and husband Carl of Lenox and Bonnie Manroe and husband Bob, also of Lenox; a sister-in-law, Mable Brown of Milton-Freewater, Oregon; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harvey D. Brown and an infant sister, Viola June Brown.
Services were held July 7 at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Donald Fisher officiating. Roberta Lockhart,organist accompanied Gwen Maynes as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden".
Casket bearers were Gene Swartz, Glen Davis, Tony Jennings, Mel Eighmy, Harlan Brown and Earl Clogue.
Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery at Kent.
The Larkin-Bender Funeral Home of Lenox was in charge of arrangements.
