Funeral services for Dayton Tripp, 88, were held May 9 at the United Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Don Fisher officiating.
Mrs. Robert Lockhart was organist; Gwen Maynes was soloist.
Casket bearers were David Tripp, Robert Rhoades, Jeff Mathers, Curt Ostrem. Roger Ide, and Jim Moyle. David H. Tripp was Honorary Bearer.
Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery near Kent.
Dayton F. Tripp was born November 12, 1890 in Adams County the son of William F. and Mary Francis Tripp. A long time resident of the Kent
Community, he died Sunday, May 6 at the Rosary Hospital in Corning.
Dayton received his education in the school in this area and was married on June 18, 1919 to Dora E. Killinger who preceded him in death on December 26, 1974.
He was an active member of the Prairie Star Church where he had served in many of the church offices. He became a member of the Lenox United
Presbyterian Church at the time the Prairie Star Church merged with the Lenox church.
Dayton enjoyed his farm heritage and had lived his entire life on the same farm until ill health forced him to become a resident of the Clearfield
Home. He spent the past four and one half years as a patient there.
He is survived by two sisters, Grace Tripp of Lenox; and Mrs. A.R. (Ruth) Rhoades of Lenox. Also one sister in law, Mrs. Ralph Tripp of Creston, and two brothers-in-law, J.R. Killinger of Somerset, Kentucky and Gordon Killinger of Gainsville, Florida, three nephews and five nieces.
