Dora Edith Tripp, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 26 at the hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Dora Edith Tripp was born on November 1, 1890 at Elliott, Iowa, the daughter of John and Nancy Rudolph Killinger.
She received her education at the schools in that area. She moved with her family to Kent, Iowa, in 1914. Dora joined the Methodist Church at Elliot, Iowa, and became a member of the Prairie Star Presbyterian Church at the time of her marriage to Dayton F. Tripp in June of 1919. She was a very active church worker not only as a Sunday School teacher but was serving as an elder in the Prairie Star Church at the time of its merger with the Lenox United Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed nature and took great pride in her garden and flowers. She would be the first to look for flowers in the woods in the Spring. Her entire married life was spent at the same home south of Kent where she moved as a bride.
A few months ago failing health made it necessary that she and Dayton reside at the Clearview Nursing Home in Mt. Ayr. Her health continued to fail and she was moved to the Mt. Ayr hospital where she passed away on December 26, 1974 at the age of 84 years.
Dora is survived by her husband, Dayton, two brothers; John R. Killinger of Somerset, Kentucky and Gordon Killinger of Gainsville, Florida, three sisters-in-law, Grace Tripp of Lenox, Iowa, Ruth Rhoades of Lenox, Iowa, and Maryellen Tripp of Kent, la. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nancy Killinger and one sister and one brother, Lulu and Ralph Killinger.
Services were held from the Presbyterian Church Saturday Dec. 28th, 1974 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wallace Nelson officiating.
Music was furnished by Roberta Lockhart, organist and Gwen Maynes, vocalist.
Bearers were Jeff Mathews, Robert Lockhart, Curt Ostrem, David Francis, Williard Campbell and Ray Hewitt.
Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery at Kent, Iowa.
