Fred J. Beatty, 69, died Thursday evening at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Services were Monday at 10:00 a. m., at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox, with the Rosary Sunday at 8:00 p.m., at the Bender Funeral Home. Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Creston.
Survivors are his widow, Gertrude; a son, James of Corning; 2 daughters, Mrs Helen Dunlap, of Emmetsburg, Mrs Margaret Teply, of Des Moines and a
number of grandchildren.

Beatty, Fred J -
Fred J. Beatty, son of John and Anna Keehn Beatty, was born January 16, 1895 in Creston, Iowa, and departed this life on Sept. 10, 1964 at the veterans
Hospital in Des Moines. His age was 69 years, 7 months, 24 days.
Fred grew to manhood in Creston and lived most of his life there. He attended the Franklin school. As a young man he worked for the Keehn Monument Co. before entering service in World War I.
He was married to Frances Dooley on Oct. 7, 1920. To this union three children were born, James, Helen, and Margaret.
He worked for Creston schools as superintendent of buildings and grounds.
His wife Frances passed away on January 2, 1961. On Nov. 20, 1962, he married Gertrude Toland. They moved to Des Moines where he worked as janitor at
Y. W. C. A. several years. They moved to Greenfield in 1958. He was janitor at the high school there until he retired in 1960, when they came to their home in Lenox.
He was always willing to help those in need, a kind and loving father, husband and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Gertrude, son, James of Corning, two daughters Mrs Helen Dunlap of Emmetsburg, and Mrs Margaret Teply of Des Moines; his aunt Mrs Winnie Lyon of Rogers, Ark., six grandchildren, Bob and Ann Beatty, Greg, Lynn, Mike and Peggy Teply whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services were Sept. 14, 1964 at St Patricks Church, Father Leto officiating with Military Rights. Burial in Calvary cemetery in Creston. Pall bearers were Chas Worth, Sherm Stinsen, Byron Brown, Raymond Dill, Wm. Quinn and Foster Hammond.
