Martin Rechsteiner, 83, died at the nursing home at 9:30 p.m. Monday. He had been ill and a patient at the nursing home for about two years.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Thursday at St Malaohy's Catholic church at Creston. Rev Pr Patrick O'Shea will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary
cemetery. The Rosary will be said at the funeral home at 3 and 8 p. m. Wednesday.
Martin Rechsteiner was born Feb 21, 1880, at Wittenberg, Germany. He was the son of Mathew and Frances Delanz Rechsteiner. He was married
at Waldsee, Germany Jan 21, 1907, to Agatha Reich, who preceded him in death Jan 9, 1935.
Mr Rechsteiner came to Union county in 1912 and was a farmer in the Creston community for many years before retiring in 1944. He lived in California
from 1944 to 1954. He returned to Creston in 1954 and lived at 309-1/2 south Elm street until he became ill and entered the nursing home here about
two years ago.
He is survived by six children, John of Los Angeles, Calif., Martin of Lenox, Carl of San Diego, Calif., Mrs John (Mary) Hayes of Creston, Mrs Art
(Rose) Hayes of Yuma, Ariz., and Mrs L R (Louise) McDonald of Sinton, Tex.; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Rev Fr
Winfrid Rechsteiner, O.S.B., at Buckfast Abbey, South Devon, England, and Wm Rechsteiner of Carroll. A son, Rev Fr. Leo Rechsteiner, O.S.B., an army
chaplain, died in the Philippines in 1944.
Mr Rechsteiner was a member of St Malachy's Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus.
