Marion A. Veatch, 38 of Creston, died at the hospital there Friday January 19. Funeral services were Monday, Jan 22 at Creston with burial in Graceland cemetery. The Rev. Marcus Aurelius of the Salem Lutheran church officiated.
He leaves his widow, Wilma, 2 sons, Marlin and Dale and a daughter, Karen Kay, his parents, Mr and Mrs Chas Veatch of Lenox, also 4 brothers, 2 sisters and a grandmother, Mrs. Arda Crawford.

Veatch, Marion Arthur -
Marion Arthur Veatch, son of Charles and Florence Dawes Veatch, was born Mar. 20, 1923 in Adair county near Orient, Ia., and passed away at the Greater Community hospital in Creston, Friday, Jan. 19, 1962 at the age of 38 years, 9 months and 29 days. He had been in failing health for the past few years.
He had lived all his life in Adair, Adams and Union counties.
He graduated from the Lenox high school in May, 1941. On May 6, 1944, he was married to Wilma Darlene Bolinger at Bedford. To this union were born two sons, Marlin and Dale and one daughter, Karen Kay.
He was a member of the Canby lodge, No. 354, AF and AM of Cromwell, where he was also a past master, also a member of Vesta chapter of OES at Creston. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Creston where he, his wife and children attended. He had also served as trustee of the church. He had farmed near Creston since his marriage.
Marion was a loyal husband and a loving father, the welfare of his family having first place in his heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a cheerful smile for everyone. He was an assistant leader in 4-H work. The burden of his illness was lightened by the thoughtful care and devotion of his wife and children.
One brother, Estle, died Nov. 5, 1924. He is survived by his wife, Wilma, the sons, Marlin, 15, and Dale, 11, and a daughter Karen Kay, 9; his parents, Mr and Mrs Chas. Veatch of Lenox, 4 brothers, Olen of Fontanelle; Howard of Creston; Eugene of Lenox; Walter of Prescott; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Sandstrom of Sharpsburg, and his twin Mrs Arda Brown of Tempe, Ariz; also a grandmother. Mrs. Arda Crawford of Maryville, Mo.
Masonic services were held at 8 p. m. Sunday, Jan. 21 at the funeral home with the Cromwell lodge in charge. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 22, 1962 at Creston with the Rev. Marcus Aurelius, pastor of the Salem Lutheran church officiating.
Music was by Mrs Claud Hart, organist. Casket bearers were Willis Ray, Hollis Mohr, Kenneth Abel, Harold Cochran, Vincent Boeder and Ora Flowers. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.
