Joseph Henry Snair, 54, died

Joseph Henry Snair, 701 West Mills street, died this afternoon while enroute to the state hospital where he was to receive treatment. He was 54 years old.

He was born Nov. 3, 1883, at Creston, the son of Thomas G. and Emma Hoppe Snair, and was married to Hazel Poutly in Canada in 1914. An adopted daughter living in Canada survives.

For a number of years Snair was a musician with several circuses and upon returning to Creston he organized the southside German band. He was a member of the Elks and eagles lodge and in 1935 was exhalted ruler of the Elks. In 1934 he made an unsuccessful campaign for the democratic nomination for sheriff, an office his father once held, and also sought a post on the city council.

Until recently he was the operator of the Circus tavern.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
[died Oct. 27, 1938]
