Henry Perry, Pioneer, dies

Henry S. Perry, 92, pioneer resident of Union county, died Tuesday evening at 7:45 o'clock at his home in Grant township, southeast of Creston following a four year illness. He had lived in Grant township since 1874 and built up a large farm from unbroken prairie sod.

He was a prominent farmer in this vicinity and formerly was president of the Arispe Town Site company and Highland Percheron Horse company and was an active member of the Congregational church.

Mr. Perry was born in Oneida county, New York on Dec. 5, 1846, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Perry. In 1874 he was married near Auruoa, Ill. to Sarah Stickland, who survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Harry S. Perry of Madera, Calif., Joe Perry of Long Beach, Calif., Wilbur Perry of near Afton, Jay Perry of Shannon City and Noel Perry of Kansas City. Two sons Earl and Harvey, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Deitrick and Keating chapel in Creston, Thursday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. Walter Cerka. Pall bearers will be James Clute, Roy Norrlinger, Carl, Lorence, Roy and Wilbur Eklund. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
