Donald L. Parrott, 75, of Afton, died Saturday, March 09, 2013 at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Pastor Jim Morris will officiate the service. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Friday at the Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Memorials can be made to the C.A.R.E. in Afton or Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Donald Lynn Parrott was born May 14, 1937 in Union Co., Iowa to Lynn Carroll Parrott and Pauline (Young) Parrott. Donald graduated from Afton High School in 1958. He grew up and worked on the family farm north of Afton. In 1978 Donald moved into C.A.R.E. in Afton and worked at Innovative Industries in Creston. He was a member of the Afton United Methodist Church.

Donald is survived by, one sister, Glenda Andreini of Waukee; two brothers, John (wife Tink) Parrott of Solon and Gary (wife Lana) Parrott of Altoona; many nieces and nephews and his C.A.R.E. family. He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Brian Sale; great-nephew, Trevor Hackl.
