Mrs. John A. Bray, known to nearly everyone in the east part of the county as Grandma Bray, died last Sunday from the effects of a broken thigh which she sustained in a fall a week previous. At the time of her death she was 88 years, 7 months and 26 days old. She was born in North Carolina June 6, 1824. At the age of 12 years she moved with her parents to Indiana. At the age of 21 years she was united in marriage to John A. Bray who preceeded her in death 46 years.

To them were born 7 children: Sarah E., Cynthia A., Albert A., Henrietta, Minervia A., John C. and Allie E. Mrs. Bray was raised a Quaker but an early age united with the Baptist church to which she was a faithful member until her death.

The funeral services were held Monday at Dodge Center church, conducted by Rev. Carlson of the Methodist church of this place. Interment was made in the cemetery at Macksburg Tuesday.

Grandma Bray was one of the county's oldest residents.
