March 24, 1892OBITUARY
Died-Feb. 11, 1892, of membraneous croup, Lettie, twin daughter of L. M. and M. J. Oziah. Aged 2 years, 1 month and 27 days. Funeral services at the residence of Peter Christy, this city, conducted by Rev. A. E. Griffith, of the M. E. church. The remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery, there to await the summons of Jesus that bids his loved ones arrive. "Except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter the kingdom of Heaven"
Slowly fell the evening shadows
O'er the earth so cold and gray,
While we watched beside our darlingAs she passed from earth away.
Oh, the anguish of that parting,
Human loague will never tell
God alone knows what we sufferedAs we said our last farewell
Knowing heaven claimed our treasure
All to pure for earthly stain
And that when this life was overWe might greet our loved again.
Lonely is our house without her,
Empty is her little chair
And her shoes and little playthingsWe lay by with tenderest care.
Farewell, Lettie, till we meet thee
Far beyond earth's grief and care,
For no sad farewells are utteredIn that home forever fair.
