DEATH OF JUDGE MCDILL
Typhoid Fever Carries Off the Interstae Commerce Commissioner

CRESTON,Is., Feb. 28,--Judge J.W. McDill of the interstate commerce commission, died at his home in this city at 10:30 o'clock a.m., of typhoid fever, aged 60 years. (James Wilson McDill was born in Benter County, O.,[Ohio?]in 1834. He gradiated from Miami University in 1855, and was admitted to the bar the following year. He went to Burlinton, ia., and thence to Afton, Ia, in 1857 where he practiced law. He was choson judge of union County in 1860 and in 1861 63 was a clerk in the treasury department at Washington. He bacame a circuit judge in Iowa in 1868 a district judge in 1870 and was elected to congress in1872, serving until 1877. He waas appointed United States senator in 1881 and was reelected in 1893. He was subsequently appointed on the interstate commerce cocommission.
