Mrs. Spencer Died Monday
Pioneer Creston Resident; Rites Thursday

Mrs. Herbert M. Spencer, 92, pioneer resident of Creston, died Monday morning at 11:50 at her home, 234 Myrtle street. Mrs. Spencer was well known in this community have made her home here since 1870.

Moving to this community in 1870, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer made their home on the Leonard Herring farm on the Cromwell road until 1880 when they moved to Park street. Her husband, who helped lay out McKinley park, died Dec. 25, 1925.

Mrs. Rosella A. Spencer was born June 24, 1847 in Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Gustin. She was one of the oldest readers of the News Avertiser, taking it ever since it started publication. she was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are two daughters, Beulah Spencer of Creston and Mrs. Mae S. Williams of Des Moines and a son, Harry S. Spencer, of Duluth, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at the Deitrick and Keating chapel Thursday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. L. E. Watson. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery
