Rosa Lea “Rosie” (McGinnis) Weisshaar, 56, of Des Moines, formerly of Creston, died from complications of surgery Nov 15, 2001, in Des Moines.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov 20 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. The Rev. Leonard Kenkel officiated the service. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name. The Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service 809 W. Montgomery St., had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weisshaar, daughter of Grace (Donner) and Fred McGinnis was born April 25, 1945, in Creston. She graduated in 1963 from Creston High School. On July 4, 1964 she married John Weisshaar at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. She was a homemaker, worked for Green Valley Veterinary Clinic for more than 20 years, and owned and operated J&R Sports Cycle in Creston. She lived in Creston before moving to Des Moines in 1984. She was a former member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a member of Christ the King of Des Moines.

Survivors include her husband, John Weisshaar of Des Moines; a son, Tony (wife Julie) Weisshaar of West Des Moines; a daughter, Terri (husband Bob) Burnett of Des Moines; a brother, Dale (wife Linda) McGinnis of Creston; two sisters, Helen (husband David) Jessen and Shirley (husband Raymond) Fleharty, all of Creston; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Marvin McGinnis a sister, Donna McGinnis; and a daughter Rose Ann Weisshaar.
