Hoke, Ben -
Ben Hoke, 77, a long time resident of the Kent community, was killed Sunday afternoon on highway No. 34, about five miles west of Stringtown corner. Mrs. Hoke, who «was riding with her husband was also seriously injured and is now in the hospital at Creston, suffering from fractured ribs, dislocated collar bone, scalp wounds, a badly mangled hand and other bruises and cuts.

The accident occurred about 3:30 when Mr. Hoke attempted to turn from the road into the driveway of the Mart Miller farm. A truck, driven by Frank
Maynes of Stuart, struck them from the rear and upset their car.

Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon at Christian church in Kent, conducted by Rev. E. E. Lister of Creston, assisted by Rev. A. S. Hutchinson of Kent. Burial was made in Graceland cemetery in Creston.
