Frances Louise Winship, daughter of Vern Hubert Dix and Fern (Nidey) Dix was born August 21, 1922 in West York, Illinois and passed from this life October 17, 2011 at West View Assisted Living in Osceola, Iowa at 89 years of age.

Frances received her education in the Grand Junction, Iowa and graduated from the Lorimor High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Harry Eugene Winship on March 30, 1943 at Ft. Wayne, Indiana and two children blessed this union.

Frances worked for Snowdons in Osceola for nearly 10 years until she became the Deputy Clerk of Court for Clarke County where she served in that position for 12 years. She then served as the Clerk of Court for another 12 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Query Club, Women's Club and Tops. Frances enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends and embroidery on quilts and tea towels. She was also a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Osceola.

Those relatives who preceded Frances in death were her parents; husband, Harry Winship; brothers, Richard, Robert and Forrest Dix.

Frances leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Sandra (Pete) Dodson of West Des Moines; son, Paul (Linda) Winship of Osceola; grandsons, Brian Dodson of Des Moines, Tony (Missy) Winship of Osceola, Patrick (Brenda) Winship of Council Bluffs, Matthew Winship of West Des Moines, great-grandsons, Dalton and Payton Winship of Osceola; sisters, Karen Sue Ripperger of Grinnell, Shirley Ann Davenport of Des Moines and Thelma Jones of Corning; brothers, Hubert Dix Jr. of Pontiac, IL and Gerald Dix, of Council Bluffs; sisters-in-law, Connie Dix of Phoenix, AZ and Lois Dix of Greenfield as well as other relatives and many friends.

Visitation: Open after Noon on Wednesday with family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday evening.

Service: 10:30 am on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Kale Funeral Home (Osceola Chapel) 301 S. Main St. Osceola Iowa 50213

Cemetery: Following the funeral service, family will gather for lunch at the First Christian Church in Osceola. Interment will follow at 1:30 P.M. - Thursday at the Lorimor Cemetery.
