Walter G. Groesbeck

Walter Grant Groesbeck was born July 30, 1859 and departed this life October 15, 1956 at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 18 days. He was the son of William H. and Susan (Fenner) Groesbeck. There were ten children in the family and all of the others have preceded him in death.

He was born north of Afton on the Groesbeck farm. In that community he spent all of his life until retiring eleven years ago in Afton.

He was married to Elma Craig July 14, 1926. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Mary Van Heeswyk of Afton and Mrs. Sylvia Benedict of Lorimor.

He was not a member of any church but attended church the greater part of his life.

Surviving are his widow Elma, the two daughters, Mary Van Heeswyk and Sylvia Benedict, and two step-sons Harold and Ralph Craig, also fourteen grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist Church with Rev. C.A. Crouse in charge. Burial was in the Groesbeck cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Carl Huss at the piano and Mrs. Lyle Luddington and Mrs. Don Seeley as singers.
