Funeral services were Saturday afternoon from the Arnold Funeral Home for Clement D. Hewitt, 78, who died December 1 [1943] at Creston after a short illness.

Surviving are his children: Edna Potts, Creston; Glen Hewitt, Omaha, Hazel Porter, San Francisco; Grace Potts, Stuart, Ia., Dee Hewitt, Conway and Paul Hewitt, Chicago. He also leaves one sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hall of Cheyenne, Wyo. Together with 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Hewitt, Clement D. –
Clement D., son of James B. and Rebecca Hewitt, was born March 24, 1865 in Wayne county, Ohio. He moved with his parents to Taylor county, Iowa at the age of 10 years.

He was united in marriage December 1888 to Mary Deaver and to this union were born eight children, two preceding him in death, one in infancy, and Edith Reed who died May 3, 1941. The wife was taken in death April 28, 1909.

The surving children are Edna Potts, Creston, Ia., Glen Hewitt, Omaha; Hazel Porter, San Francisco, Calif. Grace Potts, Stuart, Ia.; Dee Hewitt of Conway and Paul Hewitt of Chicago. One sister, Mrs. Minnie Hall of Cheyenne, Wyo. Also survives him, as do 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was married April 15, 1913 to Mary Leibeg who died July 1, 1934.

Mr. Hewitt had been in failing health for several months and after a short illness passed away at Creston, Ia. December 1, 1943 at the age of 78 years, eight month and seven days.

Funeral service were in Lenox Saturday afternoon, December 4 at two o’clock from the Arnold Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl Moneymaker was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Lenox cemetery.
