Dr. M. B. Coltrane Dead

Marion Boone Coltrane was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, October 14th, 1857 and died at his home in Macksburg, Iowa, August 25, 1916, at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 11 days.

He was married to Lena D. Connie January 2d, 1881 at Hopeville, Iowa and to this union two children were given, Camie Maude who died eight years ago next March and Rev. Earl Coltrane, present M. E. pastor at Neola, Iowa.

He was converted at the age of 21 and joined the Christian church at St. Charles, Ia., later becoming a member of the Methodist church of this place.

He had been a successful physician for about 28 years, servicing at Afton and other places. They moved to Macksburg about four years ago and he has in that time been the medical assistant and sympathiter in a host of homes of Macksburg and community.

He leaves to mourn their loss a faithful wife who has stood by his bedside in the past five months in a way that is only possible with the sacred love of wife and mother of children. Also his son Earl to whom he was not only a loving father but a close companion.

Along with these are several brothers and one sister and a host of devoted and true friends. And many who to his careful and skilled attention during periods of illness owe their life. "He saved others, himself he could not save."------Macksburg Independent
