EARNIE LEWIS DIES – DIAGONAL

Earnie Lewis, 83, of Diagonal passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 20, 1988, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

He was born Jan. 4, 1905, in Index, Ky., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lewis. He married Bonnie Norris. She preceded him in death in 1977.

Mr. Lewis moved to Diagonal in 1942. He was a depot agent of Chicago Great Western and Northwestern railroads for 33 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Kaye and husband, Jim Cheers of Independence, Mo.; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the United Church of Diagonal with the Rev. Eydie Stephens officiating. Burial was at the Redding Cemetery with the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home of Diagonal in charge of the arrangements.
