Walter G. Groesbeck, 87, a lifetime resident of Union County, passed away early Monday morning in the hospital at Iowa City, where he had been a patient about a week.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), at the local Methodist church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. C.A. Crouse officiating. Burial will be in the Groesbeck cemetery, north of Afton. The Chas. E. Coen and Son Funeral Service are in charge.

Mr. Groesbeck was born and raised in the Groesbeck community northeast of town, where he farmed, until 12 years ago, when he moved to Afton.

Surviving are his widow, Elma; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Van Heeswyk of Afton and Mrs. Sylvia Benedict of Lorimor; two step-sons, Harold Craig of Afton and Ralph Craig of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; and 14 grandchildren.
