Sylvia Frances Groesbeck Benedict, 76, passed away October 16, 2004 at Regency at the Park in College Park, Washington due to complications of Diabetes.

She is survived by her children, Sylvia Jean Wright of Bloomington, MN; Lorral (Ronald) Rinner of Yale; Ronald Benedict of Panora; Harold Benedict of Walla Walla, WA; Kathryn Hupp of Panora; Esther (Robert) Sommers of Des Moines, Douglas (Marvel) Benedict of Bagley; Cynthia (Randy) Norton of Walla Walla, WA; Michael (Tammy) Benedict of Bagley; Barbara (Dean) Carstens of Columbia, MO; and Deborah (Stacy) Ruggless of Altoona; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Jake) Vanheeswyk of Afton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elma Groesbeck; half brothers, Ralph Craig and Harold Craig; a grandson, Wade Eugene Benedict.

A prayer service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 22 at the Afton United Methodist Church. Following the prayer service, her ashes will be scattered at the Groesbeck Cemetery near Afton. Family and friends are invited to share remembrances during a luncheon at the church following the cemetery service. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
