Frances Geneva Riley, the daughter of Amos and Rosenna Reid Ambrose was born March 2, 1877, in Guthrie county, Iowa, and died at her home in Lenox on April 25, 1960 at the age of 83 years one month and twenty-three days.

After attending a rural school in Adams county, she Attended the Academy in Corning for about three years.

On March 19, 1913, she was united in marriage to Charles Riley and lived on a famr in Adams county until moving to her home in Lenox twelve years ago.

For the greater part of her life she attended the rural Mercer Center Methodist church, where she taught in the Sunday school for may years. Her interest in her church and its life were always of utmost importance to her. In her later years, she transferred to the Methodist church in Lenox, attending faithfully as long as her health permitted.

Her husband preceded her in death in June, 1950. She leaves two brothers, William and Jesse, and one sister, Amy Cash all of Lenox.

She will be remembered by her many friends and relatives for her friendliness and kindness. Of this unassuming person it has been truly said, she lived for the good she could do.

Funeral services were Wednesday, April 27 at the Mathodist church, the Rev. B. C. Collier, officiating. Burial was in the Lenox cemetery.
