Ed Peik, 88, of Creston, died April 10, 2010. at Crest Haven Care Centre. Services will be10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. Leonard Kenkel will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors by Theodore J. Martens Post No 1797 and Williamson American Legion Post No 719. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today with 6:30 p.m. Rosary and family present 7 to 8 p.m. at Pearson-Coen- Beaty Family Funeral Service, 809 West Montgomery St. Memorials may be directed to Holy Spirity Catholic Church and/or St. Malachy School. Edward Anthony Pesik, son of Anna Urcela (Toman) and Anthony Jospeh Pesik, was born April 18, 1921, in Spaulding township near Creston in Union County. Ed was a lifelong resident of the Creston and Union County area. Ed graduated from Orient High School. On August 21, 1942, Ed entered the United States Army and served until December 23, 1945, during World War II. He served 14 months in North Africa and 18 months in Italy and was credited with a three year Good Conduct Medal, European- African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars and a World War II Victory Medal. Ed was a farmer all of his life in Spaulding Township. He raised cattle, chickens and hogs. Ed did a lot of custom farming for many people and sold Archer Oil for many years. Ed was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, Williamson and Creston American Legion, Eagle's Lodge and former member of Lion's Club. Ed is survived by his sisters, Irene and Rosalie Pesik, both of Creston; special friend, Irene Book, of Creston and several cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred, Sylvester and Paul Pesik;sisters,Magdelene,Albena and Frances Pesik and an infant sibling at birth.
