Funeral Card for Fern H, Whittlesey

Fern H. Porter Whittlesey, the daughter of Roy H, and Zilphia Brown Porter, was born March 24, 1918 in Union County, Iowa. She was a graduate of Shannon City High School in 1936.

On June 14, 1941, Fern was united in marriage to Rollan H. Whittlesey in Kansas City, Missouri. she was a homemaker and mother who was the best at both. Fern was a devoted and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She had also been a beautitian, working in a shop and at home. Fern was a resident of Newton since 1945. Fern died Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at her home. She was 83.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Corey Whittlesey in infancy, and brother, Floyd H. Porter.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Rollan; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Richard R. and Cathy of Bettendorf, Iowa and David E. and Cathy of Newton; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane K. and Ron Marvelli of Newton; 11 grandchildren and her 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Daniel W. and June Porter of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Roy Porter, Jr of Des Moines, Iowa.
