Esther L. Eklund, 84, 612 N. Grand Ave., died Friday afternoon, October 23, 1987, at Greater Community Hospital.

Services were 10 a.m. today, October 26, at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home here. The Revs. M. Wayne Clark and Lyle V. Kuehl officiated with burial in the Oakland Cemetery at Shannon City. Music was provided by Lucille Wilson, organist. Memorials may be directed to the pipe organ fund at the First Congregational Church.

Eklund was born December 28, 1902, in Shannon City to Robert and Winifred (Brown) Snider. She married Roy W. Eklund February 14, 1925, in Creston. He died April 13, 1964. She was a longtime resident of Highland Township until moving to Creston in the fall of 1982. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the South Valley Quilters for 62 years.

Survivors include a son, Dale (wife Judy) Eklund of Afton; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, and sister, Elsie (Mrs. Howard) Sanderson of Placitas, New Mexico.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph W. Eklund, and three sisters.

Pallbearers were Jim Wolfe, Orville Lines, Rueben McCormick, Richard Fils, Bill Dunn and Dale Dillenburg.
