Mrs. Calla Winnifred Snider, daughter of Obediah and Elizabeth (Berry) Brown was born in Union county, June 5, 1880, and passed from this life, May 1, 1955, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Sanderson in Farmington, New Mexico at the age of 74 years, 10 months, 25 days.

She was born on a farm homesteaded by her parents, and there grew to young womanhood.

On September 20, 1898, she was united in marriage to Robert Snider, who preceded her in death May 2, 1938. They spent all their married life in Union county, except a short time, living in Holdridge, Nebraska.

To this union were born five daughters: Mrs. Ethel Wilkie, deceased, Mrs. Edith Eklund of Gooding, Idaho, Mrs. Esther Eklund of Afton, Mrs. Elsie Sanderson of Farmington, New Mexico, Mrs. Elenore Karstensen of Zearing, Iowa. They also raised two of their own grandchildren, Gerald and Geraldine Wilkie.

Being the oldest of twelve children, she helped guide her brothers and sisters as a mother and devoted sister.

She leaves to mourn her passing besides her daughters, four brothers; Frank of Rosemead, California, Orrin of Long Beach, California, Elijah of Riverside, California, and William of Zearing, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Odella Mason of Rosemead, California, Mrs. John Mounts of Shannon City, Mrs. Zilphia Porter of Des Moines, and Dr. Olive Gustin of Kansas City; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

One brother, Ira; two sisters, Ruth and Mable, and three grandchildren, Gerald, Ralph, and Eloise also proceded her in death.

Mrs. Snider was an active member of the Methodist Church all of her life, and was an active and faithful worker in the chruch activities.

She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years.

Mother Snider was a loving mother and very devoted to her family and friends, and loved her grand and great-grandchildren devotedly.

Her life was a fulfillment of an honorable and constructive life from which she derived a great happiness for herself and those she loved.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Creston, Iowa Thursday , May 5th, 1955. Dr. A.P. Keast officated. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery at Shannon City, Iowa. Pallbearers were: Dale Eklund, Milton Sanderson, Josef Eklund, Bill Porter, Billy Brown and Boyd Perisho.
