Glen Fizer, 75, of Lorimor died Sept. 29, 1994 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Funeral services were held Oct. 1. 1994 at the Stroud-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Afton. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs of the Pleasant Valley Church in Thayer officiated. Burial was at the Lorimor cemetery.
He was born Nov. 28, 1918 in Slater, Mo., to William Henry and May Deen (Murphy) Fizer. On Dec. 24, 1941 he married Lena Lewis in Albany, Mo. He lived in Lorimor for the past 27 years and was a retired farmer and custodian for the Lorimor Elementary School for eight years. He was a member of the American Legion Fred M. Davis Post No. 996 in Lorimor, Lorimor Volunteer Fire Dept., VFW John B. Parks Post No. 8882 in Afton, and served on the Lorimor City Council. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.
Surviving relatives include his wife; two sons, Roger Dean and wife Connie of Lorimor, and James Fizer and wife Joni of Thayer; two sisters, Catherine Lafferty of Thayer and Florence Mayerle and husband John of California, eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
