Carolyn Hope Austin, daughter of Kenneth Franklin Rockey and Fern Clarice [Hope] Rockey was born March 2, 1929 in Earlham, Iowa. She passed from this life with her family by her side on November 1, 2008 at her home in St. Charles, Iowa at the age of 79.

Carolyn graduated from Peru High School. She was united in marriage to Jerry Dean Austin on March 2, 1947 in Peru, Iowa and six children blessed this union, Bruce, Sandra, Bill, Debbie, Dana and Jeanne.

Carolyn was a loving caring mother. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking birthday and wedding cakes, reading and watching NASCAR.

She was a stay at home mom when her chidren were younger and later worked for the St. Charles School as a cook, wrote for the Winterset Madisonian and managed Farmers and Merchants bank in St. Charles.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry and brother-in-law, Jack Lull.

She leaves to cherish her memory children, Bruce Austin [Robyn] of St. Charles, Debra Richards [Marty] of Brainerd, MN, Dana Austin [Melinda] of St. Charles, Jeanne Brown [Wayne] of Greenfield; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Joy Lull of Las Cruces, NM other relatives and many friends.
