FRANK EDWIN ORWAN Cherokee Village, Ark.

Frank Edwin Orwan, 92, of Cherokee Village, Ark., and formerly of Lorimor, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, with family present from 6-8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be at the Lorimor Cemetery with full military honors performed by the V.F.W. and American Legion, both of Afton. Frank was born May 28, 1917, in Harcourt, Iowa, the son of Lewis Edwin and Edith (Greene) Orwan. He lived in the Dayton area before moving to Lorimor. Frank met Gale Lurene Wearmouth while going to high school in Lorimor. They were married in Baltimore, Md., while Frank was working for Martin Aircraft. He traveled to South African for two years as a foreign representative for Martin and Douglas Aircraft. He and other representatives repaired damaged aircraft that were returning to their base from bombing runs in Italy and Germany.

Frank served in the United States Army Air Force and was a cadet in St. Louis, Mo., and later became a gunnery instructor in Kingman, Ariz. After his term of service, he returned to Lorimor where he became postmaster for the Lorimor Post Office, finishing his postal career as a rural carrier. After retiring in 1974, Frank moved to Cherokee Village, Ark., where he resided with his wife until his death. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cherokee Village, Ark., Lions Club and American Legion Post 0346. Frank also was a 50-year member of Masonic Fern Lodge 180.

He is survived by his wife, Lurene, of Arkansas; two children, Dennis Orwan (Diane) of Lorimor and Deborah Petersen (Dean) of Earlham; a sister, Jean Silverthorn of Earlham; seven grandchildren - Troy Orwan (Monica) of Idaho, Tiffiny Smith (Russ) of Missouri, Tanya Yetmar (Rick) of Badger, Iowa, Eric Petersen (Melissa) of Georgia, and Jeremy Petersen (Nicole) , Chris Petersen and Tasha Petersen, all of Earlham; and nine great-grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Kate Cooper, Lois Umstead and Betty Lou Orwan; and a brother, Bill Orwan.
