Nell Carlson,Creston

Nell Carlson, 83, of 302 N. Walnut, died Thursday at Greater Community Hospital.

Her funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First congregational United Church of Christ. The Keating-Lindsay Funeral Home have charge of arrangements. The Rev. Lyle Kuehl will officiate with burial in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today.

Mrs. Carlson was born March 21, 1902, in Macksburg to Dr. T. A. & Imogene (nee Carter) Guthrie. On Nov. 24, 1922, she married John R. Carlson, Sr., in Osceola.

Mrs. Carlson was a salesperson for Strauss and lived most of her life in Creston. She was a member of the First congregational United Church of Christ, the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, was active in the Red Cross, and a member of the Americal Legion Auxillary.

Survivors include a son, John R. (wife Dorothy) Carlson of Creston, and two granddaughters.

Besides her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard, four sisters and one brother.

A memorial has been established to the church.
