Glen Edward Hoyt Sr., 68, 204 Union Street, Shannon City, died of cancer Dec 12,1998, at his home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Dec 16 at the Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue. The Rev. Pam Farren and the Rev. Calvin Pettie will officiate with burial in Graceland cemetery. There is open visition after noon today with the family receiving friends 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Creston.

Memorials may be directed to the family or Green Valley Hospice.

Mr. Hoyt was born Dec 15,1929, in Creston to Oran Hillary and Esther Bertha (Butman) Hoyt. He attended Cass County schools. On April 21,1956, he married Opal May Still in Creston. He worked as a farmhand for many years and in the sanitation business with Andy Still in Creston. He later purchased the Still sanitation business and oprated it for six years before selling it to King Sanitation and continuing to work with them. Creston Sanitation then took over the company and he continued to work for the company for four years, retiring in 1972.

He lived his childhood in Cass County and his adult life in Union county.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Hoyt of Shannon City; three sons, Glen (wife Aleacha) Hoyt Jr. of Ivy Bend, Mo., and Bill and David Hoyt of Shannon City; four brothers, Don (wife Sylvia) Hoyt of Hopeville, Ronald (wife Colleen) Hoyt of Creston, Robbie (wife Shron) Hoyt of Red Oak and Keith Hoyt Hawkins of Califorina; four sisters, Sylvia (husband Richard) Young of Lenox, Betty (husband Danny) Foster of Ravanna, Mo., Helen Pursell of Shannon City and Irene (husband Dale) Tesdahl of Slater; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was prceded in death by his parents.
